Fannin County Empty Stocking Fund
The Fannin County Empty Stocking Program was initially begun by a small group of indiviuals from the Fannin County community.
Their goal was to provide Christmas presents to disadvantaged children in the area. The program quickly grew and was
soon too large for this group to manage. They solicited the help of the Kiwanis Club of Blue Ridge in 1996. Kiwanis
decided rather than bring this under the normal operations of the Kiwanis Club a separate entity, Fannin County Empty Stocking
Program, was formed. In 1996, 402 children were provided for at Christmas. This number of children needing assistance
has grown to 622 in 2002. The Fannin County Empty Stocking Program is a 501C organization and receives donations from
individuals and businesses in Fannin County. Also in 2001 the annual Tour of Homes was started as a fundraiser followed
by the Ride for Angels in 2003. The program is supported by Fannin County for the children of Fannin County.
